Final Betrayal by SilEnigmaArts Final Betrayal by SilEnigmaArts
~...The whispers Grace had heard one too many times. She would hear them behind her back when they were at functions together and when she would walk in the street, those that knew her would look at her with pity in their eyes.
These whispers were of Lance's infidelities with the local landowner's daughter. Whenever she would return from visiting her mother in the country, she had always noticed her house staff were subdued and would not look her in the eyes when addressing her. There was always an uneasiness about her home for days after and she had found Lance had always been over attentive to her on her return. But she ignored these whispers and the nagging voices in her mind, hoping this stage Lance was going through would pass, that it was nothing serious, afterall, dont ALL men go through this stage?

But last night as she had laid out his suit before they were to go to the theatre, she had found a letter in his pocket. A letter from "her" stating her undying love for him, that she was counting the days till they would be together forever.
She had said nothing to him and but could not enjoy the concert because her thoughts had been in turmoil. Lance had asked her if she was coming down with something but she waved her hand lightly saying she had been worried about her mother and as such would be visiting her mother the next day and would stay the night with her mother at the estate.

She had decided since finding the letter that she had to know for once and for all what was happening in her home when she was away...

Tonight as she returned early from the visit to her mothers, she had walked in on Lance and his mistress in the parlour, in a state of half undress.
They had turned in frozen fear as they had seen her standing in the doorway. Lance had jumped away from his mistress, pulling on his clothes, calling out to Grace to wait, he could explain........

Grace had run out of the Manor back into the forecourt and the pouring rain where she had left her horse and carriage less than ten minutes ago.
She would never return to their home. She would instruct her possessions to be sent to her mothers estate.

This would be the final betrayal...~

Thanks very much. I look back on that piece now and see all the mistakes. On the flipside, I also see the growth in my work and is why I never go back and edit them.
Thanks very much for commenting :D

Still excellent work though...
I agree that historic pieces should remain unedited -
even though, particularly in my case, the early ones
serve as a gentle embarressment :ashamed: !!

Chaotic, but our life is always like that anyway - lol! Overall it's gone well, though, and I think most of the kids are thinking about forgiving me for the move, too, eventually!

Superb chop. Turning day to night is hard enough to do well, but you also made it rain. Love the water rolling off the umbrella and coach. From the rain-slicked street to the contrast of the lighting, this is how it's done. :):horns:

Well........thank you very much for such a lovely comment and compliment. Having seen your work on the motor vehicles (that totally blew me away by the way) I am humbled by your lovely compliment of my work. I've so much still to learn but I like to push my limits with each piece...this one happened to be the wet courtyard. I buggerised around with it in so many ways and was determined to get that "wet effect" if it killed me lol.......well....Im still here and I think I got it by jove
Thank you again :)

You absolutely got it... spot on :highfive:

The way to get better, as you obviously know, is to constantly find the limit of your ability, and push against it as hard as you can. Sooner or later that work begins to pay off and you get better. And, it seems, the better ya get the more art you want to create, which, in turn, makes you better still. It's a viciously beautiful cycle.

The day you say, "I've nothing left to learn, I know it all," is the day you should stop as an artist, because you have nothing of merit to gain OR give. Good to see you are still humble, even as good as you are. Bravo to you.

And thanks a ton for the kind words about my wrap :):horns:

Gorgeous composite work. Very nicely done. Especially like the painterly touches in the clouds and rain slick cobblestones.
