In 1631, emperor Shah Jahan, was grief-stricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their 14th child. His grief was so great that in 1632 construction of the Taj Mahal began in memory of his dear wife and queen, Mumtaz.
Taj Mahal (meaning Crown Palace) is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal in the lower chamber. It was constructed over a period of twenty-two years, employing twenty thousand workers and was completed in 1648.
Soon after the Taj Mahal's completion, Shah Jahan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb and put under house arrest at Agra Fort, across the Yamuna River. From an octagonal tower in the Agra Fort, Shah Jahan spent his last days as a prisoner of his son, gazing at the tomb of his beloved Mumtaz.
Upon Shah Jahan's death, Aurangzeb buried his father in the mausoleum next to his wife.
Note: The two white doves are my symbolic homage to Shah Jahan and Mumtaz.

Sorry if I cannot thank every personally, but I will respond to all comments. Know however, that every is a compliment and highly appreciated. Thank you!!
The composition is great. I also like the mood and the doves are a nice touch. But my fav part is the Taj Mahal visible in the distance and its reflection on water. Wonderful and sorrowful at the same time...
There is always something causing us to rethink the scene over and over while making it.. Missing that exact stock image of a person or an animal, stocks not taken in right angle and so on.. Well it trains our brain anyhow..
I like my pieces to tell a story around the focal point or character so the entire piece is taken in like a photorealistic snapshot I guess. Doesn't mean that the extra's are always noticed by some but thats ok because for those who do notice and comment, as you do...it tells me it was worth the hard work Thank you Dan
